El Tope de Toros de Gala de Liberia, declarado Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial, es sin duda una de las actividades que más expectativas despierta en el pueblo liberiano, en el marco de las Fiestas Cívicas de Liberia 2023, porque luego de la pausa obligada de dos años impuesta por la pandemia regresará con una nutrida participación.
Como en años anteriores se darán cita desde el dueño de un caballito de trabajo hasta los propietarios de los mejores ejemplares equinos, cumpliendo con los requisitos de vestir pantalón caqui, camisa blanca, sombrero de palma y/o de dril y su cabalgadura de libre elección.
La tradición del Tope de Toros de Gala es la más importante de las fiestas cívicas liberianas y consiste en la movilización de caballistas, mascaradas, bandas musicales, autoridades y las reina de las fiestas hacia el Puente Real, Patrimonio Arquitectónico Nacional para topar los toros, al ser las 12 meridiano con atronadoras bombetas e iniciar el arreo de los toros por la Calle Real y por los cuatro barrios fundadores a saber; Condega, La Victoria, Los Cerros y Los Ángeles, hasta llegar al toril de la barrera ubicado Plaza Camilo Reyes.
Desde tiempos lejanos, en los meses de enero y febrero es común el alisto de los caballo y aperos de montar, para las fiestas y el tope de toros al medio día.
En las fincas, solares y cuadras es lo propio socatear, herrar, mojarrear y raquetear los caballos de trabajo para chalanear en las fiestas. Lo mismo que encebar las albardas de cuero, lavar los peleros, asolear los aperos de crin y el orgulloso pellón de cuero y crin, apero liberiano de fiesta.
La Comisión organizadora de las Fiestas Cívicas Liberia 2023 invita a los participantes a cuidar los detalles del espíritu alegre, fiestero, liberiano a lucir los atavíos tradicionales disfrutando de las cimarronas, vibrando con el sonar de las alegres parranderas y el tremar de las marimbas callejeras.
Liberia’s gala bull parade will be on March 4th
The Liberia’s gala bull parade, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage, is undoubtedly one of the activities that arouses the most expectations in the Liberian population, within the framework of the Civic Festivals of Liberia 2023, because after the forced two-year break imposed by the pandemic will return with a large participation.
As in previous years, participants from the owners of work-horses to the owners of the best equine specimens, will attend the parade meeting the requirements of wearing khaki pants, a white shirt, a palm and/or denim hat, and their horse of free choice.
The tradition of the Liberia’s gala bull parade is the most important of the Liberian civic festivals and consists of the mobilization of horsemen, masquerades, musical bands, authorities and the queen of the festivals towards the Royal Bridge, National Architectural Heritage to run into the bulls, at 12pm with thunderous bombs and starting the herding of the bulls along Calle Real and through the four founding neighborhoods, namely; Condega, La Victoria, Los Cerros and Los Ángeles, until reaching the bullpen of the barrier located in Plaza Camilo Reyes.
Since old times, in the months of January and February, the preparation of saddles and horses is common, for the festivals and the parade at noon.
On the farms, plots and stables, it is the same to scuttle, shoe, wet and racket the work horses to chalane at the festivities. The same as fattening the leather saddles, washing the fur coats, sunning the crin saddles and the proud leather and horsehair fur liberian saddle.
The Organizing Commission of the Civic Festivals Liberia 2023 invites participants to take care of the details of the joyful, partying, Liberian spirit to wear traditional attire enjoying the maroons, vibrating to the sound of the happy partying and the tremor of the street marimbas.
The Liberia’s gala bull parade was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage according to Decree No. 37607-C (2013), Gazette No. 79, and of Public Interest according to Decree No. 38426-C, Gaceta No. 134 (2014).
The horse does not matter, it can be a working horse or have a pedigree, the important thing is to participate in the bull parade and to wear khaki pants, a white shirt and a canvas hat.
