Existen muchos tipos y marcas de cepillos dentales con distintas funciones y aplicaciones.
A la hora de elegir nuestro propio cepillo, tenemos que entender qué pretendemos de este.
Su función principal es eliminar la placa bacteriana, esta se encuentra adherida a la superficie de los dientes y encías.
La Placa Bacteriana tiene una consistencia “gelatinosa y pegajosa”, y por lo tanto para poder removerla debemos hacerlo con movimientos suaves y repetitivos.
Es decir: que el cepillo debe de ser suave y de cerdas largas y flexibles para que logren llegar a los lugares de más difíciles, pero que, a su vez, no cause daño al esmalte ni la encía.
Los cepillos eléctricos se desarrollaron para aquellas personas con discapacidades motrices como la enfermedad de Párkinson o parálisis cerebrales.
Los cepillos duros se utilizan únicamente para las prótesis dentales.

When choosing our own brush, we have to understand what we want from it.

Bacterial Plaque has a “gelatinous and sticky” consistency, and therefore in order to remove it we must do it with gentle and repetitive movements.
That is to say: the brush must be soft and have long, flexible bristles so that they can reach the most difficult places, but at the same time, do not cause damage to the enamel or gum.
Electric toothbrushes were developed for those people with motor disabilities such as Parkinson’s disease or cerebral palsy.
Hard brushes are only used for dentures.
